High school football: Start dates for all 50 states - OFFICIAL
High school football: Start dates for all 50 states
High school football across the country concluded its unique 2020-21 season earlier this month with state championship games in North Carolina and Rhode Island.

With COVID-19 numbers improving throughout the country, the 2021 season will not need a hyphen. All states have indicated intent for a traditional fall season, starting with preparation and non-league and conference games starting in the summer, and conclusion by the end of the calendar year.

More than half of the states have already set complete calendars, with start practice, season and playoff points, as as well as championship dates. Some of those are still pending state association and federation approval. Thirteen states have set partial dates, with a dozen currently still ironing out specific plans for all 2021-22 sports.

The following is an ongoing updated list of those dates. Please notify us with further updates or corrections via e-mail at [email protected] or by Twitter @MitchMashMax. Note: States with asterisk pending final approval.

Brody Rowbury named 2020-21 OFFICIAL Idaho High School Basketball Player of the Year - OFFICIAL
Brody Rowbury named 2020-21 MaxPreps Idaho High School Basketball Player of the Year
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020-21 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Brody Rowbury of Meridian is the 2020-21 MaxPreps Idaho High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-10 senior center helped the Warriors go 20-1 en route to the program's first state title in 29 years.

Rowbury led the highest scoring offense in Class 5A in points (17.0), rebounds (8.9) and field goal percentage (60.4).

In Meridian's state semifinal victory over Madison (Rexburg), Rowbury finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He followed with 13 in a 68-54 win over Lake City (Coeur d'Alene) in the state championship game.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 13.
High school football: Over 50 FBS-bound players fill Mater Dei, St. John Bosco rosters - OFFICIAL
High school football: Over 50 FBS-bound players fill Mater Dei, St. John Bosco rosters
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) are two of the premier programs in high school football and have produced a boatload talent, especially as of late. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Bru McCoy, Bryce Young, Elias Ricks, JT Daniels and Mase Funa are some notable Monarchs while the Braves have had the likes of Chris Steele, DJ Uiagalelei, Jaiden Woodbey, Josh Rosen, Kourt Williams, Trent McDuffie and Wyatt Davis.

In 2019, Uiagalelei and Young shared the MaxPreps' National Player of the Year award while McCoy won it the year before and Daniels in 2017.

St. John Bosco has finished ranked in the Top 10 five consecutive years and was the 2019 MaxPreps National Champions while Mater Dei has finished ranked in the Top 10 four straight years and have finished either Nos. 1 or 2 in three consecutive seasons (2017, 2018, 2019).

With California moving football to the spring, the two powers weren't included in the MaxPreps Top 25, but there are still plenty of implications when the Braves and Monarchs meet on April 17. There's a good chance the winner will head into next season ranked No. 1.

These are the top two teams in the California Top 25 rankings and the last time they squared off Uiagalelei led the Braves to a wild 39-34 win in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship. The five-star quarterback threw for 446 yards and five touchdowns.

Beaux Collins, Cristian Dixon and Jaylin Davies are notable players who opted out of the spring season so they could enroll early in college, but these two programs still boast a ton of talent. There will be 61 players on the field that are either rated as a three-star recruit or higher on 247Sports composite rankings or have at least one FBS offer.

High School Baseball: Wild week ahead in Florida could provide major shakeup for OFFICIAL Top 25 - OFFICIAL
High School Baseball: Wild week ahead in Florida could provide major shakeup for MaxPreps Top 25
The MaxPreps Top 25 high school baseball rankings could drastically different next week thanks to a number of big games pitting some of the top teams in the nation, all of them from Florida.

No. 2 Jesuit (Tampa) has a tough slate as it takes on Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.) and No. 6 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). The Ascenders, meanwhile, take on small-school powerhouse Canterbury prior to the Jesuit matchup. No. 4 Stoneman Douglas, meanwhile, tangles with No. 12 Calvary Christian Academy in one week.

Those matchups will have heavy influence on the rankings in the coming week, as will the final two matchups between No. 1 Buford (Ga.) and No. 25 Winder-Barrow. Although the Bulldogs lost the first game to the top-ranked Wolves, they will likely throw All-American Brady House in one of the final two games of the three-game series providing Buford's toughest test so far this season.

Dropped out: Sam Houston (Lake Charles, La.), Pioneer (Mission, Texas), Braddock (Miami, Fla.).

Game of the Week: Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) 6, Pinnacle, 5. The Huskies rallied from a 5-3 deficit with two runs in the top of the seventh and then scored the winning run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly.

Player of the Week: Jay Dill, Baylor. Dill homered four times in five wins for Baylor and drove in 12 runs.

Recruit Watch: Braden Montgomery, Madison Central. The All-America candidate had a double, triple and home run in one game last week and also picked up a pitching win.

Game to Watch: Buford vs. Winder-Barrow. Although Buford defeated Winder-Barrow in their first matchup on Monday, the Bulldogs got to Wolves' starter Dylan Lesko for four runs on five hits. Winder-Barrow is likely to give No. 1 Buford its toughest test for the remainder of the regular season.

High school baseball rankings: Barbe climbs to No. 2 in OFFICIAL Top 25 after starting season 20-0 - OFFICIAL
High school baseball rankings: Barbe climbs to No. 2 in MaxPreps Top 25 after starting season 20-0
Barbe (Lake Charles, La.) last won a MaxPreps National Championship in 2014 when it finished 39-2. The Buccaneers are making another run at a possible national crown with 20 straight wins to start the 2021 season after an 8-2 win Tuesday over crosstown rival Sam Houston. That streak is enough to put Barbe at No. 2 in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school baseball rankings.

Barbe sits behind No. 1 Buford, which continues to clobber opponents with its pitching and hitting. Dylan Lesko proved that point when he struck out 10 and hit a home run against Marist. Lesko is the No. 2 player in the Class of 2022 by Perfect Game.

Calvary Christian Academy avenged its loss to IMG Academy with an 8-2 win. However, the Eagles fell to Pembroke Pines Charter to drop two spots to No. 7.

Meanwhile, Madison Central (Miss.) continues its rise up the rankings, jumping five to No. 4 after four lopsided wins by a combined score of 49-7.

Dropped out:
Grayson (Loganville, Ga.)

Game of the Week: Calvary Christian Academy 8, IMG Academy 2. The Eagles avenged their earlier loss to the Ascenders with an impressive effort by pitchers Irving Carter and Andrew Painter. Carter struck out eight in five innings while Painter fanned two.

Player of the Week: Malachi Lott, Gregory-Portland. In a win over Flour Bluff, Lott hit a home run and also threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Recruit Watch: Brock Selvidge, Hamilton. In the season opener for the Huskies, Selvidge showed why he's one of the top two-way players in the nation, hitting two home runs and striking out six in three innings pitched.

Game to Watch: Barbe vs. Sam Houston. The state of Louisiana's two best teams reside right in Lake Charles. The two teams played on Tuesday and play again Thursday.
